Sports in the City of Manchester

The city of Manchester is a city of almost 500,000 people in the region of northwest England. Manchester is perhaps best known as being a city of sport and where a gentlemen can find elite Manchester escorts. Two Premier League football clubs reside in the city, Manchester City and Manchester United, currently FA Cup holders and Premier League champions, respectively. Manchester City’s former stadium, Maine Road, was also the site of the first World Cup qualifying match in England. First class sports facilities were built in the town for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Manchester has twice competed to host the Summer Olympic Games, falling to Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000. Although they’ve twice lost the bid, various sporting arenas around the city will be used as training facilities by the athletes preparing for the 2012 Olympics in London.
